Kent joined IMA’s Forum Advisory Board in 2024. He has worked in China for more than 35 years. Until mid-2024, he was a partner and head of Control Risks’ Greater China and North Asia practice. ON that role, he was responsible for all work in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, the Koreas, and Mongolia. His work included assisting firms with risk and crisis management, M&A, compliance, and organisational development. He continues as an advisor to Control Risks. Before joining Control Risks, Kent was a partner at Technomic Asia, a market strategy and M&A consulting firm. Kent has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in East Asian studies from the University of Minnesota and has completed graduate studies China in journalism and mass communication. As a sideline, Kent is also a standup comedian and can be seen on stage in comedy clubs in Shanghai.
