Richard is the chair of IMA’s forums in Singapore, IMA’s lead economist, and IMA’s managing director and founder. He was four decades of experience in advisory work in Asia. from 1981, he was the Asia research head for the US advisory firm Business International running several dozen projects each year on China’s emerging market, regional M&A opportunities, and competitive strategies for Southeast Asia. From 1986, he served as the Southeast Asia director for the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) based in Singapore, setting up the regional office, running government roundtables and coordinating peer group programs in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Australia. In 1990, he founded International Market Assessment (IMA) and launched the CEO Forum in Australia. In 1992, he was a founding director of IMA India, which now operates in six cities across India with over 2,000 members. In his current role, he runs the IMA businesses in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia and supports CEO forums in Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, and India. He is a graduate of Sydney University and the School or Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.
